“Over the last two months my time at ARROJO has been amazing. I have waited since high school to find a career I enjoy and after trying many different things, hair school is the perfect fit for me. I’m seeing myself grow as a mature lady and as a hairdresser; I’m surprising myself. The teaching is perfect. I learn from all the head-sheets and projects and if I don’t ‘get’ something, I ask until I do. I thought that color would be my favorite, however, I’ve found I love cutting hair. I love figuring out how the hair falls and how the slightest angle makes a difference; it’s really fun. I thank the staff for the teaching and patience with the whole class and I. “What has continued to inspire me is the support of Gina, Loretta, and the other ARROJO staff, as well as that of my family. I know I can be hard on myself and the support of everyone inspires me to lighten up and realize I’m only going to get better. Another thing that inspires me is that all my life I never found one thing that excited me and that I felt good at until I came here. This school has inspired me to use my creativity and skill, and to never stop learning. This school has shown me I do have a bright future and something great to work for. Overall, I feel that my confidence has gotten better, even though I still need to work on it. The first time we shampooed each other I was terrified to even comb someone’s hair, but now I’m getting more comfortable with interacting with models, clients, and other people around the school. I feel I’ve excelled with my blow-dry skills. I have learned to spend extra time on the ends and what products to use to make it look just right. “I have learned many things that inspire me. For one, the different shapes that can be created in haircutting. I get really excited because there are boundless possibilities for creativity! I am also very inspired by our session with Yanni (a stylist from ARROJO studio). I think he brought a very positive aspect to our entire class. I am inspired by that day because I picture my future and I can see myself doing creative updos, like what was taught in the class. I feel like I have excelled in many ways. Being in a routine has made me more positive and this has helped me be open to learning. I feel my communication skills have improved because of my interaction with fellow students, models, and clients. I understand much better the concept of haircutting, of putting a solid shape on a not-so-solid-shaped head. This recognition has also helped me understand sectioning and why it is so important. I feel like I have done well with my cuts and colors, but there is most definitely room for lots of improvement. –– Katie
“I have learned an incredible amount of knowledge, from styling to cutting. The teaching approach to the haircutting is very informative, and empowers me to learn the right way, at my own pace. I feel like I excelled at styling techniques like blow-drying and curling, and the long layer haircut. But now I want to strengthen my skills in all of the haircuts and styling techniques. –– Lumi

After completing cosmetology college I had the time of my life, travelling on cruise ships, visiting far off destinations, and having great adventures. Granted it was hard work but such a great opportunity and experience.
