Boot Camp

The Boot Camp educational seminar gives the insight, experience, and expertise of the ARROJO artistic team and provides renewed motivation for a lifetime of success in the industry.

We believe education is the foundation of a lasting, prosperous, and rewarding career. It’s why we opened ARROJO cosmetology. And it’s why we have Boot Camp, a pioneering new seminar for licensed hairstylists, running at the ARROJO advanced academy from July 12th till August 6th.

Though the inspiration was to provide the perfect student-to-stylist transition for all cosmetology graduates, no matter where they studied, the reality is this is a class for any stylist who, by taking time out to refresh and improve their skill-set, is ready to accelerate their education and get a jump on the competition.

It’s an advanced course with seminars 5-days a week. The idea is to teach the modern and creative, precision-based cut, color, and styling techniques that have been developed and are now practiced at the award-winning ARROJO studio. Instruction is based around master stylist demonstrations and workshops where attendees practice new skills in a positive, hands-on, lively and fun environment.

As students arrive for their first seminar, they can expect month-long guidance in all aspects of successful, contemporary hairdressing, including: classic cutting; creative razor cutting; advanced techniques that give more creative freedom, flexibility, and style; translating contemporary trends into wearable looks for each client; the latest theories and techniques in hair color; consultation and communication skills; and business practices proven to maximize individual potential.

In recognition of the diligence and direction of the education at the ARROJO advanced academy, it is the only hairdressing facility in New York where licensed stylists can use seminar hours to transfer their license, should they wish to work in a State that requires more study hours than where they went to beauty school. It gives Boot Camp the dual benefit of inspirational education and the easing of a transition, if and when a stylist wants to shift directions.

Hi, this is Nick Arrojo, founder of ARROJO. I’m thrilled about the Boot Camp class, and as one of the instructors who’ll be teaching regularly over the four weeks, I’ll be giving regular seminar updates, here on this blog.

Boot Camp started yesterday and my first impression was WOW! We have the maximum number of students permitted (16) and as the cosmetology school, with three classes on-the-go, is now in full swing too, it brought home how far-reaching and powerful our education has become. It’s a terrific source of pride to see the whole educational side of our facility packed-out with people ready to learn from us.

Lina, an ARROJO master stylist, Loretta, the school director, and I taught day one. In the morning we focused on the theory of cutting lines, layers, and graduation––the classic shapes of hairdressing. The afternoon was a more inspirational session as we showcased the creative cutting styles that can be achieved with the proper use of these techniques.

Today is day 2: the right way to cut a one-length line (a crucial step in perfecting craftsmanship) is in sharp focus. The morning is taken up with lectures and demos; in the afternoon all students have the chance to practice these skills in a practical workshop, supervised by myself and other leading stylists from ARROJO studio.

It’s a great group of students, too. Everyone is open, friendly, and eager to learn, and that’s made for a fantastic, lively and fun beginning to our first ever Boot Camp. We’ll be doing everything possible to keep up the energy and ensure each person leaves Boot Camp with a much improved skill-set, and a platform to go on to ever greater success. Nick Arrojo

when will the next class be and how would i get involved?

  3. AC says:

Hi Bradley, thanks for your comment and interest, this is the moderator. We are currently working on our schedule for 2010. As soon we know the dates for boot camp ‘10, they’ll be posted on http://www.arrojoeducation.com, and on this arrojo cosmetology news blog. We also have other seminars for licensed stylists that run at the academy throughout the year. Our other seminars are much shorter than boot camp––one, two, or three days long, with each focusing on a particular area of a hairdressers work: creative razor-cutting, classic scissor cutting, color, styling, business building, etc (with boot camp, because its a four-week seminar, we can cover all of these subjects).

Information on all of our seminars can be found at: http://www.arrojoeducation.com. There you can also sign up to our education mailing list, which means you’ll get an email alert for every upcoming seminar, along with special offers and promotions. As for getting involved, it’s just a matter of booking yourself on to one of the seminars. To do that call our booking agent on: 212 242 7786 ext 208.

Best of luck with your education and career––AC
