Instructors use a progressive approach to teach the theory and technique necessary to pass your State Board exam. This is combined with advanced techniques developed and practiced at ARROJO. We use a precision-based method that unlocks true creative potential; it's this method that our instructors use to supplement your State Board requirements and help you become a real master of your craft. And as the school adjoins a busy, working salon, a beauty product retail store, and our product (ARROJO product) and further education (ARROJO academy) companies, we can bring professionals from all areas of the business into the school to help you prepare for any preferred career path.
The objective is to connect you to the insights, experiences, and technical and creative know-how of the world-class cosmetologist's at ARROJO. To do this we commit to regular guest demos and lectures from salon stylists, giving you a unique education only we can offer. In addition, there are opportunities to get involved in creative projects with your classmates. Creative expression can be the most inspirational part of cosmetology, so we will help all students who want make their own photo-shoots and editorial collections. And to celebrate graduation you will produce your own creative presentation and share it with your class. These are things that can stay in your portfolio forever, improving your job prospects dramatically.
The course begins with the New York State health and safety requirements, how to do client consultations, product knowledge and usage, and how to retail. Then you learn the theory and practices of modern hair styling, and all the related sciences. The priority of each lecture, demo, workshop, and salon floor experience is to develop your theoretical knowledge and practical skills. By the end of stage 1, you'll know how to blow-dry and style different lengths and different types of hair, along with the approach to the fundamental hair cutting techniques. You'll also study business building and career development, vital knowledge for a lasting, prosperous career.
In this part of the course you'll spend more time on the student salon floor as you apply your newfound knowledge to the classic techniques of hair cutting. The theory and practice of nail and skin care, and makeup applications are studied, too, giving you a rounded knowledge of cosmetology. There's also a big focus on color and chemical services as you learn the successful application of these techniques through theory, demos, workshops, and practical experience in the student salon. The purpose of Stage 2 is for you to become increasingly skillful and confident in all practical areas of cosmetology.
It's time to build your creative repertoire. Razor cutting, editorial styling, and fashion-forward color are brought into sharp focus as you learn and practice high-level, ARROJO techniques that expand your skill set. You'll also learn the art of building a client base, and each aspect of your theoretical and practical knowledge will be carefully assessed to make sure you're ready to pass your State Board and become a successful cosmetologist. You and your classmates will also produce and present your own editorial collection; a collection that features your hair cuts, colors, and styles, along with your nail care and makeup applications. Stage 3 is the launch pad for your career as you receive advanced salon floor training in the full range of client services.
